The three famous watering holes in St Mark's square have their orchestras playing classical and popular music to attract clientele every evening and they are highly entertaining. The huge advertising hoarding covering the west side of the square hides restoration work but also makes an interesting backdrop to the painting. The musicians thoroughly approved of my efforts, dashing up during their breaks to make sure they were all represented!
