New Paintings Still Wet

"Now where did I put my keys?"

This piece was painted during the Wexford "Art in the Open" plein air painting festival and is now owned by the lady in the red coat crossing the car park towards her car. She arrived just in time to provide the much needed human interest! People who saw me working on this piece commented that it was unexpected to find someone painting in an underground car park but in fact the reflective surfaces and gritty functional architecture provided a great composition with a number of directional sign posts both overhead and at floor level pointing to the real star of the show!

How nice of her to show up just at the right time? The painting is very interesting and well done and the title is perfect. My keys are often in my pocket and I am looking in my purse or reversed. Again good job!

I'm not surprised you sold that painting, Michael. I was in the gallery on Wednesday morning, coincidentally just as the lady was about to take it away, and there was still a little huddle of people around it. And what a great event it was - can't wait for next year.

This painting travelled around Ireland as it was purchased at the very beginning of a two week break. It was carefully stowed, and at each destination was brought inside for fear of the car getting too hot. Hanging it has been interesting as the light that flows from the painting seems enhanced by a less well lit situation. I wonder if this makes sense Michael? I feel very fortunate to be able to see this painting each day and though it does have a story attached to it, the creativity, quality and innovative subject (car park, not me!) means that to the viewer, the story is irrelevant. Thank you Michael.
