Tankerton Evening



I don't often paint sunsets as they can be rather gaudy but I liked the vapour trails and the way the sun was filtered through a layer of haze or smoke gave it an extra dimension so I thought I would have a crack at it!

Sometimes the Thames is the colour of gunmetal and sometimes it is like pea soup!

The River Bank



I think this was near Shiplake. Having painted the "obvious" view I looked around and this was under my nose. The tonal difference between the tree and the far bank was very narrow but just enough to show the air space between and I did not want to exaggerate it.
